“If you ever left me, I’d kill you.” Schneiderman’s former girl friend Manning Barish quoting the then attorney general.
A Special Prosecutor will investigate “any and all matters” in the case of disgraced former NY Attorney General Eric Schneiderman and “if warranted,” press criminal charges. Nassau County DA Madeline Singas was appointed Special Prosecutor Tuesday night by Gov. Andrew Cuomo.
Cuomo’s notice of appointment and description of the tasks includes not only investigating Schneiderman, but also AG office “staff and resources” which, according to the governor, “may have been used to facilitate alleged abusive liaisons” as described by The New Yorker in an article published Monday.
MAGAZINE ARTICLE SUNK SCHNEIDERMAN
The article, “Four Women Accuse New York’s Attorney General of Physical Abuse,” immediately caused Gov. Cuomo to request Schneiderman’s resignation, and the attorney general quickly announced he would leave office at the close of business Tuesday.
Based on the allegations in the article which beside sadistic and humiliating violence directed at women also include very heavy drinking, drunk driving, injuries he suffered when inebriated and abuse of tranquilizers, it appears at least some of Schneiderman’s employees were aware of his erratic behavior and helped to hide it. Thus the scandal may well spread.
The magazine also revealed that friends of other women who spent time with Schneiderman knew he commonly hurt them, usually by slapping and spitting on them.
