MAYVILLE-Alberto Acevedo, 28, Jamestown, accused of robbing a Rainbow Taxi driver at knifepoint early April 20, last year was acquitted of 1st degree robbery Wednesday afternoon following a jury trial in Chautauqua County Court.

Acevedo made news June 20, 2017, after locking himself in a room at 131 Baker St. in a futile attempt to avoid arrest for an alleged parole violation. Acevedo had fled his McKinley Avenue residence when police arrived, and holed up for about three hours before SWAT officers managed to pull him out of a small room on the second floor at the Baker Street address.

Acevedo was in jeopardy of up to 25 years in prison if convicted.
