JAMESTOWN-City school district taxpayers can expect little or no increase in the property tax in the 2018-19 budget according to a presentation to the school board Tuesday evening.

The “flat school tax levy” is projected to remain close to the current $14,641,567 amount according to Vernon Connors, Director of Finance and Business for the Jamestown District.

Further, Connors said the district’s “goal in the next five years is not to increase them (property taxes.”

Revenue for the next school year is estimated at $84,866,646, about a $1-million increase from the current school year projection according to the slide presentation Connors narrated.

Tuesday evenings figures are tentative; the board can make changes before the final product faces the district voters May 15.
