Suspected Ellery Truck Thief Was Accused Of Writing A Bad Check Last Year

NOTE: See related report, “Multiple Truck Thefts….” ELLERY-Matthew Mecusker was arrested on a bad check charge just six months ago. Mecusker was taken into custody November 13, following a N.Y. State Police investigation after troopers received a complaint from a local business alleging Mecusker gave them a check in June for over $2,500.that subsequently bounced. Reported attempts to obtain the balance due were unsuccessful and the case was reported to the authorities in September. After receiving the complaint, the troopers advised Mecusker of the matter but he reportedly refused to turn himself in. Mecusker was arrested after a warrant was issued on November 13, and processed at SP Jamestown. He was arraigned in the Town of North Harmony Court and remanded to the Chautauqua County...

Multiple Truck Thefts Charged To Ellery Man

ELLERY–Matthew Mecusker, 29, Lewis Road, Ellery, was found to be in possession of four trucks and one 5th wheel camper trailer, all of which were reported as stolen according to a report early Sunday afternoon by the Chautauqua  County Sheriff’s Criminal Investigation Division following a “two-week investigation.” “These vehicles were allegedly purchased at various locations in Pennsylvania and Ohio with bad checks over the last several weeks,” sheriff’s investigators said. Grocers In County Among USA’s Top 50 In Sales

Wegmans and Tops are both in Progressive Grocer’s annual list of the Top 50 grocery retailers nationwide, but two other chains with local presence rank higher and one lower. One of the higher-ranked is Aldi at number eight with $14.67-billion in sales for 2017. The other, easy one, is Wal-Mart, whose grocery sales rank number one at $159.8-billion. No other grocer is even close to that-Kroger at number two did 79.24-billion. Wegmans sold $6.57-billion to rank 13, and Tops $2.86-billion was 28th, perhaps surprisingly, up from 32nd previously. Strange Series Of Events Blamed For Church Fire

MAYVILLE- An unlikely chain of events late Friday afternoon likely caused the fire in Family Church. From Chautauqua County Fire Investigation Team: ”Witnesses advised investigators that part of the copper gutter was blown off, due to high winds, and landed on a nearby transformer.
